Plant selection is more than selecting individual plants – the key is selecting plant combinations for contrast and interest in a garden. Many clients request lots of color, but want low maintenance.  One of our planting techniques is to use color in the foliage, along with other shrubs that bloom once a year. By minimizing the use of perennials, and associated deadheading, we keep the maintenance to a minimum.
Although we love shade gardens and Asian style gardens, we also build Mediterranean gardens, perennial gardens, native plant gardens, and use a variety of ground covers. We certainly install sod lawns, although we encourage minimizing lawns…less grass means less water, less maintenance, less money – less is more!
In certain hillside applications erosion control is appropriate and plants with invasive root systems bind the soil and help control slippage.
